I know I have been quite inactive the past month, alot of private stuff going on and upcoming exams, but I will try to be more active again from now on. Microsoft Employees Disrupt Wii U Best Buy EventsRemember how Nintendo was showcasing some of their E3 games at participating Best Buy stores around the country? Well, apparently Microsoft employees have been hired to go to these events and preach about the Xbox One and make comments like "why would you buy a outdated Wii U when the Xbox One is right around the corner?"
However, the employees aren't getting what they hoped for. Most customers just start bashing the Xbox One in response. Seriously, Microsoft, the people attending these Best Buy Wii U events are people who are intimately familiar with the crap you pulled at E3. They ain't takin' your shit.
At first I thought this might just be a case of one really loyal Microsoft employee taking matters into his own hands (especially since the original source was /v/), but reports have come in from numerous Best Buy's around the country that indicate many Microsoft employees have ambushed the demo lines trying to persuade people to switch to the Xbox One.

Please Pants Responsibly (Paper Notebooks FTW)

There are two ways to write a novel. Plotting (you make an outline, a plan, a roadmap if you will, and then you sit down and write it) and pantsing (you write "by the seat of your pants, throwing caution to the wind). So when I get asked if I'm a plotter or a pantser, I'm all like er, uh, hold on, let me? Pantser? I think? But I kind of, um, do planny things?
And it gets kind of awkward because in these inarticulate moments I have managed to confuse everyone including myself. And probably spilled a drink.
In recent discussions, however, I've had a bit of a revelation, silly as it is. I've realized that I -- like many writers -- am a plotter/pantser hybrid. And perhaps what I'm doing is something we could call Pantsing Responsibly. And, maybe, just maybe, I could share some of my responsible pantsing tips with other writers. Starting with paper notebooks.

The Used Game ParadigmOver the course of this past generation I've been watching the video game market react to the way it's been forced to deal with increasing changes. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. But that's something I don't believe now as intently as i did then. From where I sit, piracy and used games sales are a problem, but not in the way game companies want us to believe that they are.
Used games are a good thing for consumers. We get to try games out, and if we don't like what we see or finish it early, we trade it in and try another title instead. It's a very good system for us since video game rentals are much harder to come by. Most video rental stores in America have gone extinct and outside specific Red Box Kiosks there aren't a lot of places for consumers to rent video games. The exception, of course, being thr

SPIKE updatesJust thought I'd share with you guys some updates on the progress of finishing my "SPIKE" novel.

SATURDAY ACTIVITIES MEET

So we've had some suggestions for the Saturday Meet, WHICH I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND! Sadly BUT~ This thing is still going on so have no fear! Okay, here are the suggested places/activities that I found to be pretty cool:

1. GOLDEN ERA PLAZA ON SAI YEE STREET. It's on Mong Kok. I thought this was pretty cool since there's Wifi >D

2. TAI O. Seems to be a great place to get some pictures taken, sketch. Great view too!

3. LIVE DRAWING SESSION hosted by: ~vinnikiniki Sounds cool Not much info on it though, but it's still something to think about.

4. STREET SHOW. Now this sounds EPIC. Basically we get some tall ply wood or something we can use as a canvas and we spew artistic crap all over it. And everyone can watch. Right on.

5. STANLEY MARKET. Great place to chill, draw and take pictures. Oh, and there's a great place for drinks there. 'Nuff said.

These are just some suggestions that have been made so far so if you have anything you want to propose, now would be a good time Please keep in mind that not only sketchers are coming, but photographers are too so it should be something that can be done.... TOGETHER.

Since I can't be there I can't have you sending me your contact info, so if anyone would like to step up and be the.. er... "Group Leader" (Forgive the cheesy handle) then RAISE YOUR HANDS!

I hope there will be more people on Saturday. There have been 2 suggestions made; Mong Kok or Tai O. Basically we just need a place where we could just chill, take pictures and draw and goof around ^^

Hello everyone! I’m *shenli, a contributor currently residing in Hong Kong!

has suggested that deviants residing in Hong Kong meet up! So far, it’s just a dinner gathering but maybe we can all do something together first and then sit down for food? It’s still in the works but the date has been planned for the 1st to the 7th of MARCH.

I can make myself available during the first week of March so I’m all for it!

I hope this happens because it sounds fun~ It doesn’t have to be something major it can just be a little gathering but if anyone is interested, feel free to discuss it here (Journal comments) and don’t be afraid to throw in some ideas for the MEET!

Personally, I'm not sure I can make it on Saturday but I'll see what I can do. Tuesday is a yes for me!

All the ideas suggested there are really awesome. For the art show, we can always do it in the summer, as many of the deviants will be back in Hong Kong. And the the golden era plaza is pretty awesome. I can really picture us all sitting around and chillin'. Stanley Market's cool too but not quite suited for this kind of weather at the moment (hot and foggy oh dear gosh).

*sigh* unfortunately, I just caught the flu a day ago so now I'm pretty much forced to stay home and mope around ;A; But for those who can make it tomorrow, enjoy yourselves to the max! (that is, when the location is decided. I'd suggest the golden era plaza the best option for now.)
